Get an “A” on your next NYC Department of Health Inspection
Every restaurant and food service facility in New York City is subject to an unannounced inspection by the New York City Department of Health to check for compliance with city and state food safety regulations. Following the inspection, the inspector gives the facility a letter grade on its cleanliness and sanitation. Since July 2010, New York City has required all restaurants and food service facilities to post these sanitation letter grades where they can easily be seen by anyone passing by. Every NYC restaurant owner and food service facility operator knows that anything less than an “A” is a public sign that says their establishment is not clean enough, and the resulting damage to their reputation may be irreparable.
